最近聽到了這首歌覺得意外很帶感，一開始由IRO演唱的副歌非常抓耳，聽得出主旋律線是帶有憂鬱的成分，但是編曲讓這首歌更有正面的味道。而Macklemore的饒舌也是非常好聽的，相較於白人和黑人的饒舌風格，我個人一直都比較傾向於白人式，在表達上比較清晰、輕盈，聽了會很有爽感。

其實這首歌出自於美國版中國好歌曲──《Songland》這個節目，參賽者IRO是一個愛爾蘭人，原版的《Shadow》沒有Rap的段落，編排上也比較簡單，但是旋律的情感非常沉重，經過導師Macklemore重新修改之後，才有了現在這個豐富而多元的版本。

比起原版，我特別喜歡後來的這個完整版，讓這首歌充滿了矛盾與掙扎，在聽似歡樂的元素背後，其實歌詞的沉痛感是扎實的，而濃烈的愛爾蘭曲風搭上嘻哈竟然碰撞出這麼漂亮的火花。

歌詞的部分以「陰影/影子」為主題，創作者想表達即便我們現在過得多風光，不管我們如何欺騙自己，我們都會被自己過去的陰影給束縛住，除非我們真正放下它。那些痛苦就像我們腳下的影子，不論我們怎麼跑、跑多遠，影子永遠會在我們腳下黏的很緊。
